Monthly Reading Series.

Curated by Producing Director, Xavi Moreno, to Read and Stage in L.A Reading Series presents bold new plays throughout the season by under-represented voices (e.g., women, writers of color, writers with disabilities, lgbtq2 writers)., emerging and established Angeleno artists whose work addresses the issues relevant to serving multi-generational and urban communities that celebrate contemporary language and culture. Officially launched in 2009 as the "Worlds we Live In" by playwright Ricardo A. Bracho the program has now presented over 50 new plays. This series is an opportunity for playwrights, actors, directors, designers, and patrons to explore new plays in a fun and informal environment. Each reading follows a dialogue with the audience and the artists.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Before you submit a script to us, we suggest you familiarize yourself with Company of Angels; read our mission, vision, and history, come and see the plays being produced, and look at the archive and reviews of recent productions.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA:

  • We can only accept scripts as PDF or Word documents.

  • We do not accept submissions by mail. 

  • We only accept full-length plays.

  • Playwrights should live in the Los Angeles area.

  • All submissions must contain full contact information and cast requirements. 

  • All submissions must contain Playwrights Resume.

  • All submissions must contain a synopsis of the play.

  • All submissions must contain a Character breakdown.

  • All submissions must contain a brief description of the play’s developmental and production history.

A NOTE ABOUT CONTENT: We are especially interested in stories that call out for the stage; plays possessing a fresh use of language or form; compelling contemporary stories that speak to our community; and plays by under-represented voices (e.g., women, writers of color, writers with disabilities, lgbtq2 writers). We are not presently considering short one-acts. We highly recommend you familiarize yourself with our mission, and look at the archive and reviews of recent productions for a better understanding of the work we produce prior to submitting.
