Q&A to follow moderated by Jorge Huerta
…
Oscar Zeta Acosta, a prominent figure in the Chicano Movement, died mysteriously in 1974 at the age of 39 in Mexico. His body was never found. In this one act play the self-proclaimed “Brown Buffalo” is expelled from the Inframundo by the elders for being “too loud and profane.” They urge him to return to the world of the living in a quest to “find his body.” In his search he collides with the people he was closest to in his life, including his therapist, ex-wife Betty, son Marco, and best friend and chief antagonist Hunter Thompson.

Featuring:
Richard Azurdia* as Oscar Zeta Acosta
This one-man memory play (written by Cris Franco and performed by Culture Clash’s RIC SALINAS) explores the Baby Boomers’ generation of “double immigrants” who first moved from their homelands to the U.S. barrios in search of opportunity — then moved into the suburbs in search of color TV and the middle-class American dream!

“GO!” LA WEEKLY -
“Director Justin Huen’s staging and direction are beautifully rendered. Performances from the cast of eight are all good, especially the precision and detail of Liang’s somewhat one-note paranoid paternal figure.”

Examiner.com -
“‘Their Eyes Saw Rain,’ directed seamlessly by Justin Huen, opens in a world that from start to end is a touch ethereal, yet contrastingly raw and real.”

“A MUST SEE!” Playwriting in the City -
“The suspense within the play keeps the audience alert and waiting for one of the characters to snap, either in passion or madness. A must see.”

Joe Straw #9 Reviews -
